We know that every 25,920 years (normally approximated to 26,000), a great circular arc in the heavens known as precession is completed and the Earth aligns itself directly with the center of the Galaxy. This is due to the Earth making a slow wobble on its axis and hence changing its orientation to the Galactic Center. The Sun will conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic, describing in the sky a great cross of stars and planets. This is also referred to as the Cosmic or Solar Cross or also known as the "Galactic Cross" in Gnostic tradition. The next galactic alignment is predicted to occur with the rising sun on December 21, 2012 and this opens the way for the beginning of a New World Age. John Major Jenkins is an internationally recognised scholar of galactic cosmology. In his seminal work Maya Cosmogenesis 2012, he became the first independent researcher to show that the Maya were interested in the conjunction of the sun and the galactic center. Dr. Paul LaViolette is an astrophysicist who first proclaimed that there was evidence for a periodic outburst of galactic superwaves that emanate from the center of galaxy, causing cataclysm when they arrive on Earth. The blast of cosmic rays would cause the Sun to become more active and trigger climate change, and depending on the severity, cause earthquakes and mass extinctions. When he made is predictions in 1984, his ideas were initially met with opposition by other astronomers, but since then, he has been able to find conclusive proof that his theory was accurate. LaViolette suggests that indigenous people have kept alive the memory of previous outbursts and he cites the example of the Hopi Prophecy of the appearance of the Kachina or Blue Star that would herald the end of the world. He believes that "when the galactic core erupts it would give off a bluish-white light." LaViolette also thinks that there have been signs left in the Cosmos by advanced civilisations that have attempted to warn us of such events.

Superwave Theory

The world is facing energy driven evolution, orchestrated by a massive bombardment of electromagnetic energy from solar, cosmic and galactic sources, caused by solar flares, coronal mass ejections (CMEs), cosmic & galactic rays, & Gamma Rays, (GRBs). According to LaViolette, Earth is also affected by Superwaves from the galactic center, which have seismic effects, followed by gamma ray bursts and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) effects.

LaViolette believes that the December 26th 2004 magnitude 9.3 earthquake that occurred in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Sumatra in Malaysia and subsequent tsunami, may have been induced by a gravity wave arriving from the direction of the Galactic center. This historic event devastated coastal regions of many countries leaving over 240,000 people either dead or missing. Interestingly, just 44.6 hours later gamma ray telescopes orbiting the Earth picked up the arrival of the brightest gamma ray burst ever recorded. However, it took authorities almost two months for details of this gamma ray burst to be announced to the public. Obviously, two extraordinary events occuring within a very short time-frame suggests to researchers that the GRB and Tsunami were related.

LaViolette, says that the Earth's atmosphere would impede much of the cosmic ray radiation arriving from such a Superwave. Indeed, this would be similar to a high-altitude nuclear explosion, where little ground radiation is produced as high-energy particles would become trapped in the Earth's magnetic field. However, the arrival of a major superwave would knock out satellites, overload the power supply distribution, and zap semiconductor electronic devices i.e. computers would become useless. Thus an EMP punch that would knock out the world's technological infrastructure, would probably arrive without much of a warning.
